I had asked two people from my year group to do a interview with me on their thoughts and perceptive on fashion magazines. They filled out a constant form however then later on changed their minds on their face being recorded, so instead i had a voice recorder and recorded them. Then went home and wrote it up on too words documents.
After interviewing the two lovely people i realised my audience would like their main image on the front too be big and bold. The reason for this is that they want the image to stand out when they buy the magazine as they have soft spot for bigger image, however they wouldn't want a close shot as its more about what the model is wearing and not their facial expression. as it is a fashion magazine im considering to do a long shot to get the model full outfit in.
This has helped me with what i want my magazine too look like as i received honest opinions from people.
Welcome to the blog of Aleena Khan's, where i'll be uploading my media portfolio then and there. Enjoy x

prelim task: Audience research
We had to do our own audience research e.g. quantitative. I made my own survey with 20 questions and sent it too 21 of my contacts, and they were kind enough to respond and fill out the forms. Some of the questions answered was too do with fashion magazine and personal interest such as age, gender, if they read fashion magazines etc.
Below is analyse of the questions i asked them, this made me realise what my audience are interested in, and what i should do to produce a top quality fashion magazine. The answers are put into pie charts as it easier for me too see the end result.
Above is a survey i did too ask my audience age and gender. From this i can tell my audience are mostly girls who are 16 year old that like too read fashion magazine. I can also tell boys too read fashion magazine but not as much as girls, so my fashion magazine would have to tick the category of both gender, boys and girls.

Prelim task: Research Rationale
The research I will be doing for the
fashion magazine would be helpful to design my magazine, as I would be getting an
audience and market research. I have a wide access to range of different target
audience such as girls from 13-16, as they are closer to my age group and
attend the school where I go to currently. The school I attend also has a
college which the age group is 16-18, I can ask them as they are older and know
a bit more about the fashion industry. This will help me to gather information
in what they look for in a fashion magazine and what influences them to
purchase one.
I will be holding many types of
research such as quantitative and qualitative, to help me plan my magazine
front cover and content page. For the quantitative I will collect information
that can be measured and written down with numbers, e.g. how many magazine
readers there are. For the Qualitative I will gather information that cannot be
measured, e.g. the audience personal interest and reactions. I will put
together a mini survey and see what peoples interest are in fashion magazine,
this data would help me gather enough information on what people prefer on a
fashion magazine.
To produce my research I will do a
survey which will have many questions on it, this would either be filmed, if we
have their consent or written on a paper if they do not agree with the video
idea. This will then help me to receive a feedback from the target audience and
create a visual image of what I roughly want on my fashion magazine. In one of
my research I would have a focus group with many people, and interview them. I
would show them a mood-board of different types of magazines and have their
personal opinions on what they like and don't like in a fashion magazine. This
will help me out on the layout of the magazine, as I would have different
feedback from my target audience.
